BEAUTIFUL WOMEN: INSIDE AND OUT

On May 22, 2010, The Women in Praise (WIP) Ministry of St. Peter Sounds of Praise hosted their first annually Women's Health & Beauty Conference in Paterson, New Jersey. WIP is committed to serving the needs of women and family through missionary efforts, mentoring, tutoring and community outreach programs. They host various events to address and empower these women with the tools and life skills for a healthier lifestyle.

"Beautiful Women: Inside and Out" main purpose was to educate and promote wellness for the African-American and Latino women who are affected by hypertension, diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS and obesity. The conference included workshops on health, fitness, nutrition, diet and beauty.

CAPRI Institute was invited as a vendor to provide manicures for the guests that attended, to help promote the theme "Beautiful Women: Inside and Out". The Capri students did just that by making the women look and feel good with their polished nails and fancy nail designs. The day was a huge success for all involved. Ms. Emily Grey, a teacher at Capri was both proud and happy to take part in such a worthy cause. She was also very proud of her students who volunteered their time and skills at such an event. "Once again, my students amaze me by their talent and big hearts" said Ms. Emily. "The WIP ministry was a great group of women and I look forward to working with them on their second annually Health and Beauty Conference." states Ms. Emily.

Capri Institute is looking forward to working with The Women in Praise ministry of St. Peters of Praise in the future.

CAPRI TWO TIME WINNER!

On Friday, June 18, 2010, Capri Institute, Cosmetology Training Centers, was invited to the Palisades Regional Academy 2010 Awards and Graduation Ceremony to surprise five deserving students from the Academy with $1,000.00 Scholarships. Instead it was Capri that was surprised with being honored twice. The first in recognition of Capri's 10 years of dedicated service to the students with this years' Community Service Award. Secondly, to the delight of all at Capri, their very own, Ms. Marilyn Miranda, was named Educator of the Year.

Ms Miranda has been a respected teacher with Capri since 1983 and feels privileged to receive such an award for working with students from the Academy. Capri's Area Supervisor, Ms. Marge Amorosi, was quoted as saying "Capri Institute and Ms. Miranda are well deserving of the awards, and I am extremely proud of both." Paul Wagner, Director of Guidance at Palisades Regional Academy, who has a long history with Capri, noted in his speech that since Capri joined forces with the Academy they have worked with over three hundred students together. "The common denominator between both schools is to make a positive difference in the future of these students," said Mrs. Bridget Damiano, Vice President of Capri Institute.

Capri's dedication to higher learning and their commitment to the community are unparallel. They strive for perfection in both areas and are always looking for ways to evolve and improve. For more information please visit their website: CapriInstitute.com or call them at 1-800-BE-CAPRI.

CAPRI CONTINUES TO MAKE STRIDES!

CAPRI Institute is proud to be a Flagship Sponsor School of the American Cancer Society’s, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Annual Walkathon. 100% of money raised is donated. For the past 2 years, CAPRI Institute’s students, staff and their families have all been dusting off their sneakers in the early fall to take large steps in the race against breast cancer. Last year CAPRI raised $18,000 for this important cause and we are excited to meet our 2005 goal of $20,000! This event offers the CAPRI family an opportunity to come together and give back to our communities, which we have appreciated since our very first year of participation in 2003.

Today, there is more hope than ever for people touched by breast cancer. However, there is still much work to be done to promote early detection and help those impacted by the disease. And you can make a difference. Making Strides is a noncompetitive walk supporting the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight cancer on four fronts: research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Hope Starts Here.

If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to call us at 1-800-BE CAPRI/1-800-232-2774. You can also visit the Making Strides against Breast Cancer website at: www.cancer.org/docroot/GI/gi2.asp
